I know this is silly of me, but I'm just wondering....
Are there actually people who read the HP books and go, 'omg, Harry is such a wuss, especially compared to Draco Malfoy'.
You know, Harry. The one who always runs and hides and cries in Malfoy'sskirts leather trousers at first opportunity. Except for all those times he kicks his ass. But he doesn't really mean to do that, see, it's just an accident.
...And then they go on to write bottom!Harry/Draco.
Is that how it works?

Date: 2005-09-04 06:33 am (UTC)My point was that bottoming and being a bottom, especially if he's being portrayed as a natural bottom to Draco 'the wimp' Malfoy is different :P
.....I wish there was more bottom!Snape/Harry but I know I'm totally out of luck there. Except for that one super-hot fic where Harry fingered him against a desk after trying to stick it in and coming immediately... mmf...

Date: 2005-09-04 08:12 am (UTC)Um, and yeah, I know-- it's mostly that I've never read a believable total-bottom!Harry or top!Draco for that matter, not that I'm discounting it, per se. I also think it's very integral to Harry's character not to trust Draco or ever want to 'give in' to Draco (at first, this would still be in effect), and while Draco wouldn't want to give in to Harry either, consciously at least, I don't really see how Draco would 'win'. Therefore I tolerate switching but not bottom!Harry, because emotional vulnerability is right out for Harry with Draco anytime soon, and Draco would be much more the type to see power in getting Harry to want him (since he just plain likes attention/attention moreso than Harry by far).

Healthy relationship recipe, right there. But there's still a difference between bottom!Harry and weepy-uke!Harry.

Date: 2005-09-04 08:24 am (UTC)Um. Yeah, that's why I never meant to say I can't see Harry bottoming, -ever-, or anything... it's more that I can't see him -naturally- just sort of -deferring- sexually to Draco, especially at the beginning of their relationship, especially because Draco's SO DIFFICULT TO DOMINATE OMG. AHAHAHAHAHAH YEAH RIGHTal;skjfadslkfjslg;kjfdlk;

Date: 2005-09-04 08:24 pm (UTC)And you know, humour (especially parody) usually is used to convey meaning, as well, so it's not so outlandish that someone may disagree. Weren't you the one who got upset at someone joking over Harry being thick?

Date: 2005-09-04 08:32 pm (UTC)As for joking about Harry being thick-- that person meant it in a straightforward way, I mean it in a mocking way only. Meaning, I know better but I don't care.
