Omg, I've had my fic, 'Love for the Strong', translated into Chinese-- here!! AHAHAHAHA THIS IS INSANE. She actually wrote me to ask permission, and there it is!! It's got some untranslated parts still in the original English amongst the Chinese text, and it looks hilarious.

If someone can read Chinese, I'd love it if you guys could tell me just how bad of a translation it is :D :D :D :D *cracking up* All those exclamation points and ellipses look so hilarious, omg :D For serious. And the last line, "You always hurt the ones you love," is also in English. Priceless >:D

*ggg* You could even hang it up in your room for everyone to see!

I've been wondering how quickly I'd be able to write slash in French when I start a refresher course next week ...

Hee :D Printing it out didn't occur to me, but now that does seem to be a memento or something, doesn't it :D :D :D
...Though writing it yourself and/or in a language you can understand just doesn't seem as... funny or something. Like, I'd actually hesitate to have someone translate it into Russian, though by now someone may even have asked & I let them, so I dunno/don't remember. Seeing 'take me, Malfoy' in Russian actually makes me shudder in horror ^^;;; It's prolly different when you like the language, though :>

I think this is a very, um, literal translation of your work. The sentences are almost translated word for word, line by line, which I find hard to read sometimes. Having said that, many chinese translation of published works are like that, and since I can't tranlate either way I guess I shouldn't be complaining.

Btw, her choice of words is beautiful and carefully crafted. I wish I had half of her vocabulary.

Ah, is it one of those things where the literal translation sounds weirdly phrased in the language being translated to? Like, this is an issue in most fan-scanlations of yaoi mangas and such, though there's a range of vocabulary as well :> I suppose it reads better when the vocabulary's good, at least, which is more than I expected~:)

Normally, I would guess completely literal translation just wouldn't -work- across languages as different as Chinese & English, but I suppose it's okay if you're willing to compromise coherency & readability somewhat. Hm. But! Thanks for telling me :D :D
