Um, so like... I have a lot of work-- two websites!!-- to do right now till Monday, and of course I'm twitchy & want a bit of distraction, so--

    (Here, I'll start: I've a deathly fear of needles. Especially big long huge dentists' needles, but any needles are bad, mmkay? It's my only bigtime phobia. Also... I never get over anything. I'm all 'sure, be mean to me' to people and all understanding and forgiving, but I -never- get over it even if I forgive the person. I'm an elephant that way. Oh, and I love and adore lame-ish 70s & 80s songs, especially 'cause like, 'These Dreams' by Heart & 'Learning to Fly' by Pink Floyd are my theme-songs. Heh.)

Haha, well, I've liked B/J & Justin since I first saw it-- oh-- when it was starting 3rd season, whenever -that- was. Uh. I saw those vids and was like OMG HOTTTT because a) they're both hot & b) they GET IT ON, which I thought was Important. So yeah, it's not the deepest thing (which, as it happens: here (http://s37.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0LJFZ14PCALJC26VCCHMNMYR17), eheheh). I mean, I wasn't ever really in the fandom-- I read a few fics but mostly watched seasons 1-3 and got pretty addicted :>

Ah, see, that's another thing. I watched so much gay porn, and when I was younger I naturally saw so many films with gay themes or characters, that I keep forgetting others haven't (very annoying when I have to read academic texts and they only talk about het porn, btw.)

I've actually seen some gay porn, but it never makes me that happy 'cause they're so fake and their sex actually seems faker even though it's real 'cause the acting is so bad. It's wankable where QaF isn't (usually), but I enjoy QaF on a more squeeing level 'cause there's that sense of romance and desire not just fucking. I dunno. Plus they're hotter than your run-of-the-mill porn stars. Some of that stuff is just. Ugh.

I've seen a bunch of gay movies, and often they've got that depressing thing going on -or- there's absolutely no smut. I just want something funny & smutty & angsty with hot people all at once. I'm not picky at all, see.

Oh yes, we all agree on that. The little stab in the guts only comes from proper movies, hardly ever if never from porn. Except in proper films, it's so brief (which might actually add to the effect - I can tell from experience that porn is much better if only half glimpsed, preferable for a few seconds only *g*).

BUT, as with most types of film, repeat viewing does pay off. On any 3-5 hour tape or disc of gay fuckage, there is one couple that is obviously INTO each other, and that actually shows. The kissing and touching, you know.
We all lament that films like Maurice have too little sex, except that one scene with "It's ok, sir" is still one of the hottest ever in my book, coz my stomach does a flip-flop.
(PS: of course, I'm a fan of the original QAF.)
I guess most people don't know that John Cameron Mitchell of Hedwig and the Angry Inch has been trying to fund a non-porn film with real sex in it for years. Initially I was "duh"-ing, but I think he wants just a bit further than we do, demystify copulation.

Omg, I don't have the patience to watch 3+ hours of bad sex to get to the good bits, man. Whenever I (rarely) look at it, I sort of get tired, I guess... plus I don't get tapes or discs, I download stuff off p2p networks when I'm bored, ahaha. -.-;;

I know what you mean about the half-glimpsed being sexiest, but at the same tiiiime, I think some of the sex-scenes in US!QaF had that same feeling of privacy and spontaneity (not all the time, but). Especially when they're half in public or something. Ahhh, I've just got a soft spot for them, they both have the cutest expressions, especially Justin. It's totally female-style gay pr0n in terms of storytelling, which is prolly why so many of us are so hooked :>

I've always wanted to make a movie with real sex in it too. Like, where people could act for real and have sex for real, or hopefully even like each other for real. But it just being 'real couples' not glamorous in their fucking wouldn't be enough (that's amateur porn for you)-- 'cause the more transgressive would be to show real emotion and sex at once.

Yeah, I got some downloaded as well, the advantage being they're short. Sadly the only good one cut off after 30 seconds - that was a young Swedish couple totally into each other, you wanted to eat them up (just like they were eating each other up).

Did you see Intimacy or Le Pornographe or whatever all those titles were? Mainly French directors (female) did show real sex. Hetero. And you now, real sex is sad.

Heh, I feel quite normal talking about it, I guess it's empowering, esp. considering the texts about women and ("normal") porn I read, as in: hey, I watch guys on guys, and you can't do anything about it, and there are no women in it subjugated to the male gaze, but all the males subjugated to mine, mine, mine.

Actually, American porn might be some of the worst. I only ever saw one properly produced Czech flick and I actually wrote a post on it but never published it. It was really good, I mean, come on, porn is never "just real sex" anyway.

I bought seasons 1-2 from the states and never watched those expensive boxsets coz NTSC=GRAINY. And I might never see 3, since most people told me that once it veered from the UK version after 2 seasons it got worse, although now I want to see, hm.

#3 does veer off and so do 4&5, but it's a good veering 'cause there's angst and Brian changes and AHHHH it's cute and addictive and soap-operaish but with a sort of sincerity to it. I dunno. Hee! All I know is that it's on the Best Of album (this one, I mean). I've only ever heard it on the radio before, but it's pretty catch, isn't it :D :D You could prolly find the other on a p2p network if you look long enough ^^;;;;
