Though this makes me wonder if 'subtext' could be called canon, since it's so dependent on the reader so you could pretty much see any subtext you wanted. I think I'll make up a theory that Harry is really from Mars and Draco is from Venus and see how that flies.

...Do they say these things in like, other fandoms?? Should I just run away now, or wait till later??

not when just speaking with a male character becomes proof of gay though. that's like... these people can have relationships that are not sexual! i swear! you know, this was the sort of thing that annoyed me about sirius/remus. and i guess it was meant to be funny but it sounded a bit too serious at the same time.

I think I'm at that point where nearly every wrong-headed thing I see makes me twitch & want to start biting people's heads off.

Not that people aren't free to be fetishists, but if it affects your reasoning to the point where you're staying stupid things, it doesn't matter if you're a fetishist or not, you're just stupid, the end.
