Oh my god......

I just finished the second volume of Under Grand Hotel, which was really close to overtaking the #1 favorite yaoi manga spot until its last chapter, and my heart is completely ripped to shreds. I'm just... totally traumatized. If Mika Sadahiro doesn't write the third volume (even raw... I'll read it untranslated, it's fine, no really... it's fine...), I think I'll come to Japan just to harass her. That was the worst! THE WORST! Sen! SEN YOU ARE SUCH AN IDIOT!!! (...okay I feel better now, a bit). So yes. Sen Owari is the HUGEST IDIOT EVER. GRRRRR. Swordfish may be a violent over-possessive bastard with no morals to speak of, but at least he's not that huge of an idiot as to throw away the one good thing in his life! ARGH.

I was going to post squeeing and saying it makes total sense I'd love a gritty melodramatic prison-based love-story, considering how I dig violence in my romance, but. GAH. My #1 most hated plot-point is when one of them decides to give up even though they're still in love. I just. It makes me so upset, I just feel like gnawing things. Nothing else-- I don't care if they're dead, if they're disfigured, if they're homeless, if they're cut off from all humanity, I don't care, if they're together! If they're doing horrible awful abusive things to each other-- that's upsetting too-- but... giving up... and then lying and saying they don't love the other anymore.... Oh. The hatred. The rage. The unfairness! THE EVIL!!

That's just. A horrible ending. It's a horrible non-ending, so that can't be end, right? Because nothing got resolved. No threads got tied up. It can't be the end. And I know this is really random ranting about stuff most of you don't have a clue about, but now I feel better. If it is the end, I'll seriously find the mangaka at a con one day and rant at -her-. And I never rant at anyone in person. So. Yes, that's a threat, Mika Sadahiro :-P AND YOU BETTER BELIEVE I'M SERIOUS!

DO YOU WANT ME TO TELL YOU THE (RELEVANT) PLOT??! BECAUSE I CAN TELL YOU THE PLOT!!! YESSSSS!!
Okay, so. Um. *concentrates, pushes rage down for a bit* Um. *deep breath* The two boys (they're like, 22 or whatever)-- are both in prison. Swordfish (gorgeous guy with dreads and blue eyes, omg HOT... like Sirius if he was black, had dreads and was a gang leader, but he COULD BE), and Sen Owari, who was a Japanese exchange student until he shot the husband of the woman whom he was having an affair with. The husband may or may not have been dead when Sen shot him, but Sen meant to shoot him anyway. The guy was trying to rape him when he found out about the affair, and the wife shot him first. So. He MIGHT get out of prison if he betrayed his ex-lover... or perhaps if he betrayed Swordfish, which I'll get to.

Sword is the gang-leader inside the underground prison (Underground Hotel = Under Grand Hotel), and at first Sen was totally antagonistic towards him 'cause he didn't care what happened to him after the whole getting convicted of murder thing. But then he got raped and almost killed by this serial killer guy, which Sword rescued him from 'cause they had an 'appoitnment' for Sen to get beaten up, and he didn't show so Sword looked for him. Initially Sen became his 'bitch' so he'd give him protection... but then they fell in love and had lots of really hot sex. At one point, their love got challenged because Sen had become Sword's 'weakness' and his gang members were worried about their boss and so they gang-raped Sen and almost killed him, but the guards interrupted... and Sword then rejected all his men and killed all the guys who raped Sen even though they were in solitary hiding from him. But anyway. Sen got freaked 'cause that was the first time he realized that Sword really was a killer... but he was able to accept it because he just loved Sword so much, and he knew it's just that his protective/possessiveness that got him there (though of course he's also a violent bastard unless it's about Sen). Though Sword isn't the cold-blooded type at all... Sen's more the repressed one. But anyway, yeah. End of volume one, they're still together, going strong, etc.

Volume 2, this uptight Japanese warden shows up who wants to 'clean up' the Under Grand Hotel & take down Sword's gang & so on. With the end, he gets Sen as his secretary and gradually wins his trust 'cause he acts like 'gentleman' (which y'know, Sword doesn't so much), and also he starts reminding Sen of his older brother, who died in an accident and Sen has an inferiority complex to. Sword is intensely jealous of the warden, and finds a way to put Sen into solitary for a week just to keep him away from him-- but while Sen is in solitary, a guy wearing a guard's uniform comes and rapes him while holding a stun-gun, but the worst part is that he gives a 'message' from Sword saying that Sen should remember to be faithful. And since neither of them trust each other enough and since Sen knows how Sword -can- go overboard, Sen does believe that Sword would do something like that (ie, have someone rape him) since he'd done that with that gang-bang, actually. But, uh... that was before they became really close and confessed to each other, etc.

Anyway, this time (understandably!!) Sen doesn't forgive him and breaks up, and when Sword confronts him a little later, he says he's unsure whether he loves or hates Sword anymore (but then their relationship was always somewhat competitive/antagonistic, yum). So Sword sleeps with this slut!boy who was pretending to be Sen's best friend and said he was in love with Sen for months now (it's been about a year since Sen came to the UGH). Norman (slut!boy) used to be Sword's bitch before Sen came along, and apparently he never got over him or something, and was just trying to get Sen away from Sword all this time. But anyway, that just drives Sen to sleep with the warden 'cause he catches them together and Norman tells him all that stuff about how he was lying about being his friend and he wants Sword. The warden is all (fakely) sensitive and playing on Sen's confusion and resurfaced memories of his brother and homesickness (even though he came to America to get away from it all), and he tells Sen he loves him.
