Ladies and gentlemen, we've arrived at an equation: reading this post about the Hot Gimmick manga (which apparently has a much more abusive male main character than I previously realized), I've come across this comment:
    Intellectual intelligence + emotional disconnection & inexperience + vulnerability = oh yes. Fictional kink.

Ahhhh. Everything just seems so much more... uh, pleasant when you make it an equation. Well, or not. But. Me? That? Yes.
