well, people seem to like my fluff-- or not even -my- fluff-- let's just say, people seem to like fluff, unless they're grumpy people and go "arg" and "grr" a lot. as in, "grrr, i only like Deep Poetic Torture" *laughs madly*
god, i amuse myself.
onwards.

so i know [livejournal.com profile] ashkitty wants me to write more fluff-- and i want -other- people to write more fluff (ie, pretty much all of you). this gives me an idea. for a fic challenge. to write a fluff fic based on a type of sweet. like, it would have the properties of that sweet-- apple cobbler with ice cream, or blueberry tart, or coffee ice-cream with mint chips, or cookies-and-cream, or strawberries-with-chocolate-sauce...mmmmm :D no one ever picks up on my challenges, so i guess i'll have all these sweets rotting my own brain. ha. eventually i might eat one, though~:) mmm, lemon-chiffon pie..... triple-chocolate decadence....a strawberry milkshake.... a triple-decker sundae... *stops herself forcefully* :>

anyway-- i would write one, if someone else picked another one. fic for fic. they could be connected, but they don't have to be. the fic doesn't have to have a sweet in it, just have the properties of that sweet-- ie, structurally, emotionally, sensually. so that the fic tastes like the confection, somehow. just, whatever your favorite sweet is, try to translate that -feeling- into a fic. is that possible? i don't know. but it'd be fun to try, i think.
EDIT: all the fluff-challenged people can of course feel free to write about yummy smooth, rich darkness-- let's say, chocolate mousse, brandy-flavored chocolate-covered cherries, bitter dark chocolate candy with crunchy hazelnut centers, even chocolate liquor~:) mmm, that last one has got to be poisonously orgasmic, all smooth and deadly and irresistible. mmmmmmmmm....

[livejournal.com profile] pingviini wrote pure sweet goodness, again. *sigh* romantic!draco meets philosophic!harry in an amphitheatre. whispers carry.

hee~! is it that i don't seem like the sinner type...? mostly because i have no patience for jkr's writing or her plots or her characterizations. it's readable once you start, definitely, but i have to remind myself and force myself to begin. it's still on my "to-do" list, but it was mostly important back when i was going to write my Epic... and now that that's on the back-burner... well. i would never read it if no to become a "better fan" or more like, better fanfic writer.

i just don't enjoy it in a visceral way like i do other books. say, diana wynne jones-- i couldn't put her down, not ever. it might be because i basically know the plot of all of them, so i'm just reading them for details, like a duty almost. taken on its own terms, without having fallen in love with the -idea- of the world and the characters already beforehand, i would say i actively dislike jkr's work. she can be witty and whimsical, but her plot-- her characterization-- the overabundance of sloppy writing and the execution in general-- are way below my standard.

should probably read CoS before i see the movie, though ^^; hee

But how do you know the canon, if you've only read one book? How do you get any feel for post-PS characters? *puzzlement*

yeah, that's odd, isn't it?
one answer is that i -don't- have a feel for say, sirius or remus, but on the other hand, from all reports (and i had my het!boy friend read all the books, and he's become my canon beta, hehee), sirius doesn't get much in-depth characterization in the books, anyway.

i dunno, i never claimed to know canon!harry or canon!draco -that- much. the fact that people say i write even remotely canonical stuff is amusing, i guess. i've heard enough things about canon characterizations, i've read enough to know how she writes, and i pick up things from fanon. i'm observant...? i dunno. i do have this sense that maybe i'm missing something important-- ie, with ginny or seamus or whoever, but then again i'm not that interested in them. i do believe i could greatly enlarge my scope if/when i finish the books (i -will-), but it just doesn't feel urgent, since it's mostly to improve my writing.

but yah, for some reason i can tell what's canon and what's not. weird, huh? :)
