o_0 i'm just in that kinda mood.
Sep. 20th, 2002 03:22 pmthese are the things that amuse me. it's really pretty sad, isn't it? ha, but priceless. i was just innocently looking at
weatherby's journal, and boom! harry-as-kevin-arnold flashed before me in a stroke of brilliant light, the likes of which haven't been seen since yesterday at the earliest..!
it's hilarious, because ohmigod, i can so see it..! yes. malfoy as dorky older brother. perfect..!
~~
was thinking randomly, on bus. thought of the word `spell', immediately rhymed it with `well'. spell well..! erm. so like, i get this plotbunny about a well that you can dip into, and you get a spell (ahem), except there's no telling what it'll be, big or small, useful or destructive or barely-noticeable.
this made me notice that i'm actually wrong about my lack of plot-making prowess (the good plot issue nonwithstanding). it's just-- i usually get world-building or magic-use or weird-situation ideas. most of them wouldn't fit into the potterverse, or if they did fit it'd be a stretch, fitting them. it would probably help to actually finish reading the books of course. >_<;;
and like, i don't even -want- to stray too much, 'cause i like the world like it is, i mean-- i've read about people who write harry into siberia or whatever, as an exchange student. erk. i want to laugh at them. ha..! ha..! that just totally seems like a limitation, that you need to "write what comes naturally" or what you know, or whatever. why don't you make harry russian and a girl and chubby, while you're at it?? hee~:)
um. disclaimer: i'm sure those people are all brilliant (not). my fun is my own, thankyouverymuch :>

Date: 2002-09-20 12:51 pm (UTC)Um...Harry going to Durmstrang and Harry going to Siberia are two completely different things, right? You won't look down on me for my evil exchange student Flamel fic plots? *shrug* I think Durmstrang is incredibly, depressingly wild and grey and very cool. Plus, there's the northern lights. And Nicholas Flamel. And I'm in love.
Hey, I'm a fan of stretching things, manipulating canon, what can I say? And lately I'm jaded with typical things and go right for the AUs and variations. It'll last about a week, I'm sure, but I totally need refreshing things.
With the exception of LUW, which is. Yes. WAH. Refreshing nevertheless, despite everything, and. WAH.
It may take me weeks before I'm coherent enough to review LUW12. But, I just wanted to make sure H and D doing Durmstrang was cool with you. *laughs* I promise a happy ending (for once)!

Date: 2002-09-20 01:11 pm (UTC)you wanted to make sure it's cool with me....? of course. like, everything you've ever written has all added up to me being completely confident in anything you do. well. no telling what -effect- it'll have on me, but i've never went, 'arg. now that is a silly, silly plot device' *laughs*
and, durmstrang is v. cool-- and different from siberia. like, it's a -variation- and -reflection-, directly reflecting on hogwarts, y'know what i mean? like, if he lived in some totally non-canon school, with no connection to anything, every single dynamic would be different. i just hate the sense of, "i'm writing this because this is my life, and i want to insert harry into my life instead of mary-sueing myself into harry's", y'know?
*rubs hands together*
by the time i got to luw12, i was sleeepy, last nite. am so looking forward...! ack. i thought i'd read `red', first, and by the end i just though that was a good time to have sweet dreams ^.^
although. i do have a quibble with it. can you really see draco just-- planning to choose hate over pleasure and then following through with it?? that's a -huge- amount of self-brainwashing, isn't it? if he was so good at it, why would harry distract him so in the first place? i'm just scared of a draco that could go, "yes well this was intense. next!"
heh. i was so yummified by the sexual overtones, unusual in fluffy first kiss fics. considering, like, he's 13 right ^.^ *feels dirty* :>
