Maybe I should wear a sign: if you're homophobic, stay the bloody fuck away from me.
Of course, that doesn't work when we're talking about one's mother :/
Who isn't a fundie or religious, so of course there's lots of quasi-science and 'who wants to be proud of being like monkeys' and 'it's scientifically sick' and 'if we/the penguins were all gay, the species would die out' and on and on and on.........
*repeatedly beats head against wall*
PS: This all started 'cause I said 'slash is a better hobby than Sudoku' ^^;;;;

She's not apathetic, see, she's just disinterested, which is slightly different: not interested enough to know any better, but still self-confident enough not to -care-.
I think it squicks her & that's all she needs to know because to her, it's not like she's ever telling anyone what to do, so why should anyone begrudge her an opinion? I mean, in some ways I'm like that too 'cause I think people (well, I) can feel/think/etc whatever they want as long as it has nothing to do with someone else, but-- I mean, it's a bit funny/stupid in this case since she does try to control/judge -me- at times, and I do write slash and I am bisexual, so this is a bit of just stubborn denial on her part...
