Actually unrequited love affair, she said, so that's not what she was thinking.

I know :( Well, that was a bit tongue-in-cheek :> :> hehe

I knew I wasn't going to be this excited for long so I tried to squeeze it for all it was worth, haha.

I find that really cute, somehow. Heee! But also a bit sad. Aww. I wonder how I'd feel if JKR said Draco had an intense, painful, ongoing, unrequited crush on Harry.

. . .

HAPPY :D But I'm a meanie :(

Hahah now that I actually read your post..., lkjafslkjaklj I posted this before I read anyone's, 'cause... well, I wanted to be happy for a bit, haha. This is like, my reaction to fandom posts and interviews and just any discussions these days. "I probably shouldn't read this, it'll just turn out to be bad..." hahahaha

Anyway I didn't think she made it requited, and besides Dumbledore/Grindelwald is like, super-fucked up (and brief) anyway, so... man. It would never occur to me to think of it as canon, any more than it'd occur to me to think of S/R as canon (without fandom). So I was shocked! Shocked! hahaha! I tend to read books-- y'know, normal fantasy books-- and be all happy if there's a gay character, 'cause like, there's a lot more of them now than when I was a teenager, growing up-- even in 90s books, definitely in 80s books. I remember when reading The Sandman, I was like, 'wow, cool, gay/lesbian characters', and such. And anytime I read these books, at the back of my mind I compare it to HP and my fandom, where y'know, we'd never encountered any reference and it's always gotta be 'those delusional slashers' and like... it's just one more thing that made me feel lame for liking HP in the first place, like couldn't I have picked a cooler fandom, y'know? haha.

I dunno, I know it's lame & could've been miles better and it could've been something where she's on the level with actual normal fantasy writers these days, but... my lame little fandom. My stupid little books. Awwwwww, y'know? heheheh And I just love tragic unrequited love anyway, hahah. I feel like we got a pat on the head, collectively, but still. I am lame enough to be happy and not ask for more. I think 'not asking for more' is the secret for enjoying JKR's books in the first place, ahahahaha.

Well, given how completely conservative these books are about romance in general, this is probably much more shocking!

I know! it was shocking!!!

FOR ONCE IN A GOOD WAY, haha. Part of why I was laughing hysterically is imagining the reaction of all the mainstream conservative types out there who read the books and who'd hear of this, and how this'll get added to religious people's rants along with witchcraft incitement. Oh boy. :D It makes me tingle just thinking of it :D

Turns out I was wrong about her saying it was unrequited at least--so go forth and draw fanart that was totally what she had in mind!!!

Hey, google a fic called "Subjugation." It's Dumbledore/Snape and may be exactly what you are looking for! >:D

Oh you wrong, wrong little girl! You should iron your hands.

And then write porn >:D :D :D

HEHE Although honestly imagining both Dumbledore & Snape nekkid is...

well. >____<;;;
haha though I like both Dumbledore & Snape suffering for their unrequited love 4evah. Because not only am I a romantic, I'm a mean one, too >:D

And, I'm glad it was useful, at least. ♥

I didn't say I wanted nudity, I just said fic, Reena, fic :D

If I ever write you porn it's only going to be the H/D Azkaban kind.

Yeah, except I am torn between "rewrite it so Harry's crush is less obvious and Draco can still run off at the end," or "make it H/D like it is apparently begging to be."

From: [identity profile]
Of course it's up to you, but... the question is 'how can Harry's crush be unobvious and it remain your Harry' teehee but then, I have that problem as well :> It's still true that every fic I've ever written is H/D, whether Draco (or Harry) is even in it or not. One thing is for sure: it's gonna be a lot more difficult to accomplish the former than the latter :>

it doesn't say unrequited in the trascript

Did Dumbledore, who believed in the prevailing power of love, ever fall in love himself?

JKR: My truthful answer to you... I always thought of Dumbledore as gay. [ovation.] ... Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald, and that that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was. To an extent, do we say it excused Dumbledore a little more because falling in love can blind us to an extend, but he met someone as brilliant as he was, and rather like Bellatrix he was very drawn to this brilliant person, and horribly, terribly let down by him. Yeah, that's how i always saw Dumbledore. In fact, recently I was in a script read through for the sixth film, and they had Dumbledore saying a line to Harry early in the script saying I knew a girl once, whose hair... [laughter]. I had to write a little note in the margin and slide it along to the scriptwriter, "Dumbledore's gay!" [laughter] "If I'd known it would make you so happy, I would have announced it years ago!"

LOL, I am really happy too! And I like that it was "super fucked up" (as you put it) gay love because that is my favourite subject in fanfic and now we have it in canon too!!

Of course there is wank. There is always wank. I don't care. I'm in a happy place where I can laugh at the wank.

I know rite? JKR knows about my fucked-up romance kinks, apparently. ♥. Better than Lily/Snape. More GAY than Lily/Snape. AWESOME.

Somehow, the people who now want to slash Dumbly with others JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THE GLORY, y'know. :D

Hahaha I'm in my happy place because I've only heard distant rumors about the wank. Let them suffer!!!! HAHA! Man, I'm so happy at the thought of people who are discomforted by this, no matter who they are. Let them choke on Dumbly's big gay cock!! *cough* I mean, I amuse myself in my own way too :>

Oh, I couldn't resist - I waded through the links on F_W last night. There's some hilarious shit in there. Not the homophobic stuff, that's just predictably nasty. But so many slashers are mad as hell with JKR too. (Check out the Queer_rage link!) That bitch, she made a character gay! She's totally fucked over slashers and insulted the gay community!! Er, WTF?

Haha what the hell is up with that? I don't know if I can take that last bit seriously. Mostly it boggles my mind that some people seem to purposefully *try* to take things badly. They say nothing will make everyone happy & I guess that's true, but... it seems like people are getting inventive. Why would you... why would people be so insanely eager to take offense at squee-worthy events? I mean... I don't think there's any way to really say this that isn't wanky. People write Serious Business posts about how we should all stop being too critical and that's wanky too, but jeez. Sometimes people ARE way, waaaaay too critical. o_0 That kind of reaction pings me in particular, I guess, 'cause I'm a bit embarrassed for squeeing too much & losing meta respectability or something. But to hell with being respectable, anyway, if I can't enjoy the things that are enjoyable. It really drives me up the wall that a good number of these critical posts all start with 'it's cool that he's gay and all, but...', like, they're dismissing the initial reaction of pleasure/yeayness as unimportant or less important than their oh-so-deep analysis. I get bitter just thinking about it, and this is just reading my mostly-harmless flist. Which is why I avoid HP wank about anything I care about :))

I had that reaction even to the metafandom people who're like 'this is fanservice'(!!??!!!) because she didn't outright state it in canon. I just don't even get people sometimes, seriously.

I know exactly where you're coming from. Why are people just gagging to take offense at something like this? I'm talking about the slashers here, obviously. The homophobes, well they're bound to be upset and see if I care.
