Omg, I'm reading commentary for fic-bits on Aja's anon fic concrit meme even if I only just skim the actual bits of fic! It's really ridiculous, but I think I'm just so starved for this sort of thing! WHY ISN'T THERE MORE OF THIS IN FANDOM :( :( :( *CRIES*
Seriously, stuff like this and this is just gold. I mean, the truth is, it seems to have burnt out rather quickly (since the later fic-comments aren't getting any replies at this point), but it's just beautiful to see all this honesty and dialogue about fics :( And the writers are taking it well when they respond, too :( *clutches* THIS IS WHAT I WISH WOULD HAPPEN EVERY DAY :( But like, I'm not about to suggest a comm since those things keep dying, obviously.
EDIT - I totally looked at Mike Smith's HBP crit thing recently and it was hilarious and I loved it, but. Nowhere NEAR how much I would've loved the same for a bunch of HP fics, whether or not they were H/D or whatever. *sigh* Clearly, I just LIVE for concrit :P
It's just. I would totally love fandom & feel on cloud 9 if at least 20% of the total written meta/critique was on fanon rather than canon :/ And I don't mean rants or general 'how to write' stuff, which exists, I just mean more of the picking-apart & analyzing of specific bits of writing. WOE.
(And yes, I know this is what most people think betas are for, but I just like this in public with a bunch of random people, apparently, that's all, 'cause I can watch all the different perspectives play out. And also because while I'd love to have some of these people as my beta, I never know who to trust/ask 'cause I have little idea as to who's good at editing/critique before I watch them at work.)

Date: 2006-07-09 12:41 pm (UTC)No but see, this is just the way I write. Like, I totally overuse certain worlds and I can't help-- argh!-- emoting, and like, going on tangents and suddenly getting excited in the middle or sad (or whatever it is people put in parentheses, god I love parentheses) and then I mention something totally random and explain things and there are run-on issues, and. Um. THEN I SAY UM.

Date: 2006-07-09 02:15 pm (UTC)....I actually emailed Aja asking her if she wrote it 'cause I KNEW I recognized the style of writing as old-school but for some reason this didn't jibe with you in my head immediately just like my comment didn't for you :> :> (y)
