reenkaOh my gahd, Remus/Sirius done right makes me so happy. Wow. I totally have that toe-tingly fangirly 'eeeeee-fanfic!!!1' sort of feeling, like when I first started reading H/D and whenever I find or rediscover a pairing. *happy sigh*

kabeyk's fics, and they're all gorgeous and yeay (especially `The Unconventional Way'), but mostly I'm infatuated with `The Dating Disasters of Sirius Black', because it's long and chaptered and slow-building, and I love the characterizations so much it really kind of hurts. Everyone is so bloody endearing and believable and eeee, boyish YEAY, and I know I adore a fic when I love its James to pieces (first experienced reading Prufrock's fics, I believe). And Lily! And of course, need I mention Remus & Sirius? And hahaha, even Peter grew on me. Everyone just makes me want to squeeze them with glee, even when they're being bastards-- and it's not like they're not bastards, because they are, except they're not, except they are. Or something. It's great, anyway.
I mean, I realize I'm biased, but it's hard not to squee madly when my reaction to 99.99999% of all H/D fic consists of me going 'grr, argh, must. leave. fandom. now.', and then there's this and I'm all melty and gooey and man, I really wish I could write MWPP (*curses mental block and bloody smug muses*). *glazed sigh* I've even gotten to the point where I'm okay with S/J and R/J and all of that just to have them all in love with each other, hey, it's fine. Yes, I'm that far gone. I am so in love with their friendship, and their love, all of them, so in love. It's totally my major (and probably only) happy place in HP. WAH.
Although I don't mean to sound as if I need MWPP!S/R or that fic to be all gooey and happy/fluffy, or that's what I look for in S/R fic-- I mean, there's always that undercurrent, tension, volatility, that's always there. It's not smooth or easy or even... well... happy, except for brief bursts, but when it's good, then it's great, and when it's great, then it's brilliant. Though I admit I'm more interested in the dynamics of how they work in spite of everything (keeping that in mind) rather than in the dynamics of how they don't. But that's just the constructivist in me.
