[more Basara nonsense]

I fully understand none of you care about this, however... I can't stop myself, so.

You know, I actually tried to stop reading `Basara' when I ran out of licensed releases, but I just couldn't. I tried reading other mangas, but they all seem pretty 'bleh' and not as good in any way. My motivation to read pretty much anything else is zilch, though I did write a bit of my own H/D hug!fic. So scanlations it is for me....

Okay, so there's this boy and his best friend, and they're both rebel 'gang' leaders in a mountainous rural region, right, and one of them is a complete feral crackhead whale-hunter slash future priest (that'd be Nachi), and the other is the son of the local leader, also expert in Japanese sword-fighting (that'd be Hijiri), and he's all cool-headed and practical and caring and competent (and he has this cute gang tattoo on his face...). They're sort of adorably doting with one another, it's just almost painful to watch. It's the sort of thing where it's not like I want to improve/liven it up with sex or anything, it's just that they're already so married, it's not even funny. I mean, when you're married, you might as well go all the way, right?

I almost had a small coronary 'cause I thought Nachi was about to die (I literally cried... I never cry during books or comics, never, and I was seriously about to lose it because she could've killed -anyone- but my happy-go-lucky wildcat boy, ahhhhh *fawns over*). Actually, I'd really rebel if she killed Ageha too, but it wouldn't be as -wrong-, 'cause Ageha isn't so innocent and crazy and darling, I dunno. Basically, what it comes down to, for me, is not Nachi, and he's not even my favorite. Well, everyone's my favorite except the stupid Blue King, who annoys me and sometimes reminds me of Draco a bit, but not in a good way, except when he's being a brat and not a psychotic manipulative asshole. *sigh*

Anyway, my point was... my point was....

Hijiri thinks Nachi is about to die from multiple sword-wounds on enemy territory, and he's losing a lot of blood, right, and weakening/conking out and so on... and he... and he....

HE TEARS OPEN HIS ARM AND TRIES TO FEED NACHI HIS BLOOD. With his teeth. And Nachi's like, 'um... not a vampire, kthnx', and Hijiri's like, 'I DON'T CARE, I WILL MAKE YOU A VAMPIRE!!!' (...Neither of them are vampiric, obviously.)

I JUST WANTED YOU ALL TO DIE RIGHT ALONG WITH ME NOW (...though I know, that's prolly not possible.) STILL THOUGH!! STILL!! >:O

Y'know, I would probably read Basara if the art didn't make me go "Ew". It's that really oldschool shoujo style I don't like, where the guys faces look like they've run into a wall too many times. And if I didn't currently have Kimi Wa Pet on the brain. That manga has eaten my SOUL. HASUMI OR MOMO OMG I CAN'T DECIDE!!ONE *angsts*

T_T I lean towards Momo because I love him to death and he's wonderful but really, could it ever work out between them? But Hasumi is SO nice and sweet but also SO boring and... straight (yes, I know, only someone as messed as me would use that as a negative) and could Sumire ever really be herself and not what he/her family/everyone else expects her to be around him?

I'm sure glad you have more Momos than Hasumis there *g* Of course H is boring! He might try and he does usually come around but his first reactions are always oppressive and suffocating. She is suffocated by him and you know *eyeroll* that as it's just the sex, Momo just needs to have sex with her and then it'll be all rosy.
Now I just convinced myself that I don't want to see that though, coz it's too boring *rofl*

PS: Knowing manga, it will be a totally frustrating non-ending with things staying just as they are.

Haha, the thing I really hate about Hasumi is the way she like, comes around and his place is an icky bachelor mess, and then she gets all housewifey and cleans it up. Just not-on! But he's still nice, but in that kind of icky boring nice-guy way that's just a step away from being a whole facade that guys use to get girls, except it's worse from him because he really is that much of an idiot. *gags* At least Momo is SMART!

No, sex with Momo wouldn't be boring, because she could smoke afterwards and he wouldn't be all clingy like Hasumi always is. And he's flexible ;)

Heh, Momo is actually more devious than Hasumi, which is interesting to think about, coz it would be so much more black/white if Hasumi had another love-interest or saw her just as meat. But he actually tries to get to know her, and it's more in her own mind that she cannot be herself than in his behaviour.

The thing is that she'd need another pet then! She needs that a-sexual cuddling. Oh no. I hope they don't solve it by giving her a child to fill that need?

I like Momo better for his deviousness and smarts, actually. I mean, Hasumi is intelligent to a degree, but Momo's more her equal in that sense. And she could get the cuddling and the sex from Momo, if she just let him XD.

Yes, that's why I enjoyed it so much - I do hate the cow-like faces often, but I loved the equal-yet-different dynamic between her and Momo from the get go. I think I called it better-than-slash (though that might have been Perfect Girl ...) I've been trying to convert people but there's not even a good website for it :)

I know. No websites suck. And I hate the title they gave the English translation (Sumire? Tramp? I DON'T THINK SO!). It's like HanaKimi for me - really queer het stories XD. They're the ones I like the best from the mainstream genres, and the ones I stick with outside of my ridiculous yaoi addiction. Like G-Senjou no Heaven's Door. Lots of hilarity and silly subtext-reading in that one.

I just spent half an hour looking for my post on Kimi Wa Pet and realised I had never unlocked it (have 837 draft posts hidden), but I listed one site there used to be, now dead of course!
They even call it Tramps Like Us in German *headdesk*

The yaoi ones currently published are so boring - stories like old-fashioned Harlequin romances, and no sexy images let alone actual sex, despite them coming in wrappers. I don't think I know Heaven's Door.

Oh so right about the boring romance ones. Which is why I get all mine scanlated. I can find all the interesting stuff then XD (Kazusa Takashima! Nanao Bohra! Under Grand Hotel! Dr Ten!).

G-senjour no Heaven's Door is actually a shounen manga about kids drawing manga (haha, meta) with lots of messed-up relationships and very very cool art. It's being done by Mangascreener here (http://mangascreener.com/project.php?id=51).

Y'know, the art grows on you. Or on me. Now, I've been looking at more modern stuff and it doesn't seem as satisfying o_0 o_0 Because they don't draw backgrounds as much and the faces look much more alike o_0 o_0 Whereas in Basara, every character is very distinctive, and not just with haircut/haircolor.

...Possibly I'm too biased to even attempt to give a 'normal' opinion.

It's the sort of feeling where I'm seriously about to do a little faint and throw my hand against my forehead and go, 'I shall never read another manga again!!' Because none other would be Basara ^^;;;

...I suspect it's the addiction talking.

I dunno. You swap some of the hairstyles around on the blokes and you couldn't tell the difference. :P It's definitely the addiction talking. I felt that way when I was in the middle of HanaKimi, or G-Senjou, or Kimi Wa Pet today. It's like seeing a movie and thinking "Nothing will ever top this" and then, eventually, something does.
