[mmm, sanity]

I'm never anything less than rather disturbed when people casually mention how they want some annoying character (Ginny, Grawp, Slughorn, Snape, whatever) to die in some grizzly and/or silly fashion. Not that I can't separate reality from fantasy, and of course it's fine to imagine whatever fate befalling whatever character or real person, it's just... the frequency and the flippancy of the references gets to me, I guess.
I always remember that in real life, these people may feel like that about 'terrorist scum' or whatever other kind of scum-- they may point at some 'evil no-good disgusting' person and not just want them brought to justice, but want them destroyed and/or humiliated-- and I wind up hating not the evil person but the supposedly good people who want them made into Kibbles 'n Bits.
In the end, I guess I feel like 'good people' are ultimately scarier than 'evil' ones-- the ones who're so certain they're right, and sensible, and kind. The ones who don't realize that if you think too long about how very much you want that evil pedophile to be chopped liver, you risk becoming something quite other than kind and just and reasonable. And yeah, these are just offhand remarks not meant seriously, but that's what bothers me-- that people don't think it's important, really, that they allow raging biases to fester unchecked and unnoticed.
I was trying to think of whether I wanted Voldemort vaporized or whatever (aside from assuming he would be), and realized I didn't care as long as he was neutralized & not a threat. Man, I was just really disturbed by that random person taking their dislike of Slughorn to a desire to see him splattered across the pavement (well, not that they said that, heheh, poetic license). This is sort of indicative of how people often relate to characters-- that is, processing and reacting to them as if they're people they know-- which is why it bothers me. Attachment & dislike of fictional characters is normal, but... it still freaks me out just how far people take it. (And I shouldn't talk, I mean, I cuddle my Harry plushie, you know. In fact, my plushie wants a cuddle right now.....)

Also, I don't know whether to be sad or resigned that I really liked the fake!Felton gay pr0n shots, but I liked the guy's blog even more (it's just so cute how he keeps mentioning his boyfriend, heheh, who's totally dark-haired and hot and, um, I'll stop before I incriminate myself further). And now Draco-the-gay-pr0n-star won't leave me alone. It's slightly more creative than rentboy!Draco, and, ahahaha oh, if played for crack & laughs is could be hilarious-- I mean, especially if he really digs it like this guy does (likes the attention, I'd bet). Oh, Harry would so drop dead, y'know, accidentally coming across a Muggle mag and BAM :D
(In my head he wouldn't do it for money, y'know, but just 'cause he doesn't want any wizard to know he's gay or whatever-- and he'd really enjoy it and, omg, I can just -see- it. Oh, fandom, I love you sometimes.)
