I'm only posting the things I can't bear not to say RIGHT NOW.

...I just could never hope that what I wanted from Harry & Draco post-OoTP could be finally (finally!) given to me by canon instead of an H/D fanfic.

Draco's got his. I was literally so happy I cried.

I just. Thank you, JKR.

That is all.

PS. No, I mean. I'm a bit WTF though, I must admit. I... it... I mean.

This. I refused to hope for this. Refused. And people have been semi-spoiling me so I don't even -know- (not for sure), but just going the way it's going and JUST Draco getting one up on Harry and JUST Harry obsessing over him and omg JUST JUST JUST JUST AAAAH. I can't even.

I was just thinking, actually, reading the last chapter of `Eclipse' right before HBP, that I don't need H/D actual slash-- that the tension and the UST and the preslashy intensity between them is what I adore and come back for. And. Well.

HELLO, BOOK 6!!1oaiufdlak;jflamkjglmjfsd

PPS. I keep thinking that Draco could've hexed him much worse than he did-- could've really hurt him, and didn't. Didn't. Went for the personal, for the violent, which he never does-- Draco doesn't do violence. Oh. Just. Oh. My. God.

And Harry hates him more than ever :D :D :D Oh, I am so happy. I. Wow. This feels more like my birthday than my birthday did :D

...You know, some H/D shippers I know have claimed that H/D could only make sense post-Hogwarts. And who proved them wrong? Yep. JKR. Oh man oh man.

I wouldn't actually be surprised if after that promised epilogue at the end of book 7 it became clear that H/D could only work well -in- Hogwarts.

:)) I'm actually pretty excited about Slughorn-- he made me pretty happy when I first 'met' him :> :>
But that's nothing to how happy Tom Riddle is making me right now. I'm almost tempted to desert Harry & Draco & immerse myself wildly in Riddlefic and darkfic wallowing as is my wont ;))

Slughorn is the greatest new character she's done in a while. I mean, he is just straight out of the Senior Common Room, she's nailed him perfectly. The social favoritism and snobbery, yes, but also real affection and bonding with his favorites, both as a teacher and a Head of House, which is something I could never really see with Snape, no matter how hard I tried. And his foibles make his students even more attached to him but he still plays off his own alleged worldliness to maintain his authority, at least over young people. An absolutely classic academic type, and just wonderfully done.

And the Tom backstory is fantastic. I mean, those scenes in Little Hangleton, I could almost hear the banjo playing in the background, you know? And Dumbledore to Harry: "are you feeling sorry for Voldemort?"

I think what I loved most of all is Harry's relationship with Dumbledore, just the lessons that D is trying to get across to him and the way he does it. And now I'm thinking: please post when you're all done, because I really don't want to get ahead of what you've read and there's mountains of stuff to talk about!

I was just so happy we got a reasonably multi-sided adult Slytherin who wasn't, y'know, 'dark' or scary or... um, sexy, y'know (I really hope... I mean, they cleaned up Snape, but Slughorn, please no). He's not a villain & not a 'good guy', precisely, either, and I love that he's not even ambiguous in the same way as Snape (a bastard who seems to do the 'right thing'). He's sort of... an adult character, who does represent his House but doesn't seem entirely limited by it, the same way that Gryffindors aren't. That made me really happy :D

Man... I loved the 'sorry' thing too :D I've gotten just past that (to bestial!Tom on his bed) so far, and I'm loving it like whoah. Some of the best writing she's done, period. Omg. I just... Tom makes me tingle in a way neither Harry nor Draco do :> He's so... he's my type of character in the orphanage scene, dark & desperate and feral. I always played up those aspects in Harry, but in Tom they're right there for the taking! I was blissed out & came to my laptop to do something Tom-related, and wound up making an icon :>

And of course! I'll post loads when I'm done :D
