Hey hey. People often tell me I contradict myself, and I know I do-- but this time I'm doing it on purpose(!) Because having said that about the top!Draco Jihad, much as I meant it at the time... well, it's just that they don't make him the way they used to anymore, that's all.

I was randomly going through my recs memories and found [livejournal.com profile] tilney's old H/D drabble, which is bloody brilliant, and of course has top!Draco. Another drabble I loved was `I Hate Every Bone In Your Body (But Mine)' by Telanu/[livejournal.com profile] somniesperus. Draco is bloody violent and angry and brilliant in it, forget ICness one way or the other.

You know, I love fics where Draco secretly worships Harry and hates him for it, but... pure hate is good, too <3 You are a pathetic excuse for a human being, Potter. ...ahhhh. Pretty, pretty hatred. Yum yum! *shivers* (Where has that kind of Draco gone? Where, where? *hunts*)

Anyway, this made me curious! I'm not sure I want top!Draco recs because I'm not so much in the mood to read new things as remember which ones I'd loved. Looking through my limited memories list at lj, hey, there's another one-- [livejournal.com profile] silviakundera's `Parselmouth' has beautiful violent Draco:
    Draco had meant his fist to hit the flat, flushed slope of Potter's cheekbone, and then Potter hissed like a snake, and then it didn't. It didn't at all.

Randomly going through my old recs list for top!Draco fics I loved at some point (hard to remember which ones). Well, I found `Quiet Intensity' and `A Catalogue of Ways to Torture FlobberWorms, Elves, and Harry Potter' by Salima, haha, but I bet no one's heard of her ^^;; Then again, I think of Tilly's `The Iceman Comes' as 'classic' (and I -think- it's top!Draco?) and I suppose no one knows -her- anymore, either. It doesn't matter though... it's like, Charli J's `For a Time in Silence' is a yummy knife-sharp H/D story that happens to have a toppish Draco in it. ...Or does it? Ahhh, the love. Hahah, though some of the old top!Draco fics I'd enjoyed-- like Silver's Petronius series-- just make me cringe now ><

...Man, I wish I could remember whether `Brief Interval Before the Resumption of Play' had top!Draco, 'cause that'd take the cake, considering it was long my favorite H/D fic <3 heheh. If anyone remembers any classics with top!Draco, tell me, tell me :D (I have to say though, usually in the better non-NC17 fics it's... less than clearcut-- or they switch-- but then I like it that way.)

Ahahah, I wonder if stuff like Zahra's `Git' counts as top!Draco? I mean... he's a very aggressive kisser >:D Man. I'm so nostalgic now.

Dunno if I like any of those, because I'm far too used to bitchy!Draco. XD Fanon has ruined me for top!Draco. Quiet intensity isn't bad, but self-abusing!Narcissa & Draco makes my eye twitch. Like mad. Cutter!Draco is just so... Avril Lavigne.

The Parselsmut isn't bad though. I always dig a bit of that ;).

See, fandom has really changed, 'cause--
Fanon has ruined me for top!Draco
In my experience, that would make no sense ^^; I wouldn't say top!Draco is non-fanon at all.
...Ahaha, it just occurred to me that you probably meant that bad fanon top!Draco has ruined you for uh... other fanon. It's just that I er... got introduced to Draco 'as is' with the fic the way it was.... Avril Lavigne and all. Nostalgia, like I said :D

I wasn't meaning any of those as direct recs, per se, they're just old recs, which means I'd enjoyed them at a different point in my fandom life. I do have a fondness for violence in any form, obviously, but these links aren't 'representative' of the kind of fics I'd liked or read, mostly; I just went through `Protective Bonds', and of course it's not hardcore enough to have explicit penetrative sex-- most fics weren't. Yah, that was back when there wasn't a lot of H/D porn o_0 That time existed o_0 (Though I didn't think any of those links had cutter!Draco...??)

Edit #3: The lighter of Silvia's fics are chock-full of bitchy Draco. Like `Double Dare (http://www.geocities.com/wanderbymistake/doubledare.html)' & `Butter and Pigtails (http://www.geocities.com/wanderbymistake/butterandpigtails.html)' & such <3

Oh, well, it's not like top is less fanon than bottom, but most of them are bottom, so that's what I'm used to and has skewed my perception. If it was vice versa it would be the other way.

I do have a fondness for violence in any form

Heh, are you a Kazuya Minekura fan? I'm just reading Bus Gamer as we speak and it's chock full of delicious bishies getting the crap kicked out of them in lots of pretty B&W panels. No buttsex to speak of, but lots of pretty boys and violence. Also, Nanao Bohra seems to specialise in violence AND buttsex (and even necrophillia... kind of... sort of... well he's a zombie anyway, and he falls apart occasionally... during sex).

AND OMG GUESS WHAT!? I CAN LEECH OFF IRC NOW! Tookmelongenoughbutanyway... Koi ga Bokura ch 11 is just... *deds*. Ei-kun is soooooo bitchy!Draco sometimes. Complete with the whole "ZOMG Harry's too good for me" complex XD. And Fujio is stubborn-stupid-Harrykins to a T as well in that chapter. XD XD LOVE! <3 lessthanthree in case that doesn't work...

Heh, those fics make me giggle. The perfect bitchy obliviously stupid Draco that I love. XD

Haha, that's what I meant! When I came into fandom and pretty much before and right after OoTP (my formative period, so to speak), most of the fics were either with switching!H/D or top!Draco. If I was more conscientious, I'd provide a history, annotated with links, but as it is I'm too lazy ^^; I guess my post didn't quite make sense if you didn't know that? :-?

Kazuya Minekura...? I... er... am unaware of it if I am? But I haven't read Bus Gamer...? Ahahah that means it's on my to-read list now >:D And I haven't read Bohra's stuff either, though there are mentions of it everywhere... sometimes I pick an author to procrastinate on reading -because- I keep seeing them everywhere ^^; Ahhhh, also it's the so-much-porn-so-little-time syndrome. But yeah, I don't actually read much violent boy-love manga... it's just a large compotent in the kinds of pairings I really love (usually either one or both of the people are angry/violent-- like say, Buffy/Spike, Harry/Draco, Sen/Sword(!!) and even Kyou from Fruits Basket... heh though that probably doesn't count.)

...And, er... my previously mentioned complex has still kept me from reading chapter 11 -.- Er. -.- As well as Shiuko Kano's latest one-shot -.- *siiiigh* But at least it's an excuse to use the icon <3 hee Oh Fujio <3<3<3<3<3 It's so sad Motoni Modoru usually writes horror :(( Wah.

*sputters* BZUH! Go! Read Minekura! She also did Gensomaden Saiyuki - & a prequel to it called Saiyuki Gaiden - (lots and lots of violence, angst, hermaphrodites >:D and pretty pretty bitchboys) which is lisenced and one of the very few mangas I am actually buying (PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A BIG DEAL FOR ME) and collecting because on top of the prettyness and the violence and the delicious art and angst, it's a re-writing of Journey to the West which is one of my favourite stories of all time.

She also did Stigma which again, lots of violence, pretty boys, angst and a very subtle sort of shounen ai/yaoi/shota story which is tragic and sweet. It's scanlated by Obsession, if you're looking for it online.

Bus Gamer isn't quite as heavy on the angst (of course, her main charas have tragic pasts but its not as heavily played on as her other stories, but it's definitely there) but yes, nice and violent. No BL overtones to really speak of yet, but there's some messy family situations somewhere.

Wild Adapter and Araiso are her other two, which are definitely BL/shounen-ai, WA being angsty and Araiso being a goofy AU-school spinoff of the manga. The art for it is delicious and so fanservicey it's sinful.

Emerald Eyes has scanlations available for Bus Gamer and Wild Adapter. Pick any pairing in any of her series and you've got a violent relationship in some way... okay except for Gojyo/Hakkai (which is canon!), because Hakkai hides his dark side too well. They're kind of like fanon playboy!Sirius/hiding-his-darkness-&-guilty!Remus in that way... Even if you're not too worried about pairings or boysmut, she's a brilliant mangaka you should really check out. < / Kazuya Minekura pimping >

Oh, and Nanao Bohra is just hilarious. You should really check out as much of her stuff as possible. She also really loves writing older!Ukes who are like, 36 or 40 or something getting shagged by 20 year olds. It's so cute and I love it. Older men need love too, even if you have a schoolboy thing like me. Procrastinate no longer! It was honestly not until I started reading her stuff that I encountered real sort of violence in yaoi manga unrelated to sex - she likes abusing her characters a lot in various ways. XD And a lot of the relationships are really messed up. She even did a rentboy one once that made me think of Remus/poor-ass-rentboy!Draco. And Three Wolves Mountain has pseudompreg, furries and incest-from-beyond-the-grave. C'mon, how could you not want to read it?

I just downloaded this old wackt-looking scanlation of the first 15 pages of `Araiso' & the boys sure are pretty >:D I like her way of drawing eyes. Generally, I haven't read Stigma or any of her other stuff 'cause I've been sticking to um... more blatant romance stuff, shoujo if not boy-love ^^;; So... I mean, since most of the violence out there is shounen, I've not been reading it. Like... well, the violence I meant I like is of the emotional kind, if that makes sense-- like, anger moreso than things blowing up, if you know what I mean? So I'm happier just with angry characters (even on the level of bitchy/crabby/mean) than actual... bloodloss, I guess? But I'll check out Wild Adapter & so on, 'cause now I'm curious :D But it's not about who beats up who, when I say I've a fondness for violence... or rather, me liking the character emotionally comes first & wanting to see them angry comes second? Mebbe. ^^; Anyway, I view emotional violence as violence enough (and often it's more intense that way). Though my absolute favorite is when it's like with H/D-- not necessarily just sex or just anger-- more of a melding of all sorts of emotions until you can't tell where one ends and another begins; that's what post-OoTP H/D angst is made of, man <3

I'll definitely read Three Wolves Mountain, really I will! Hehehe Ahh, I've such a huge pile of stuff to get through ^^; Seriously, it's scary. At some point I've started getting manga without even direct intent to read as much as 'well, I suppose I'll get to it one day', ahahah. It does sound good, along with like 284 other mangas ^^;;

So I'm happier just with angry characters

Fufufufufufufu *puts you down as "Future Genjo Sanzo fangirl"*. Pretty eyes and a nasty angsty/constantly-pissed-off/misanthropic streak. Actually, now I think about it, he's a lot like how I (and a lot of fandom, it seems) imagine a post OotP Harry. Nice and misanthropic. :D

Hahah, man, I'm so attracted, but ahhhh it's so... so.... seeminly shounen with shounen-ai hints, which just seems so frustrating.... I mean, I do read stuff other than romance (er... really... I swear...), it's just that in that case it's entirely for plot & character and being teased seems cruel (well, this is why I still haven't read all the other very-light shounen-ai stuff like Data & Eerie Queerie and so on). Hehehe but yeah, I'd probably like him ^^;;; I AM VERY EASY.

Ahahah man... are you sure fandom imagines Harry that way? 'Cause man, no one writes him that way -.- At least in H/D. NO I'M NOT BITTER OR ANYTHING WHY DO YOU ASK?? -.- (Perhaps reading 'romance' in the first place is where I went wrong...)

I think you just need to stop reading fics off FF.net. *pats* It would be far better for your mental health.

I've been pretty picky, I thought ^^; And I'd think(?)-- I've assumed I'd hear about it if people have been writing IC post-OoTP fics-- I mean... or Aja would've heard about it... or any of my fandom friends... you know ^^;; That's why I started the stupid Big Bang challenge, anyway-- because no one I knew of was writing Harry or Draco in a way that really made sense post-OoTP, aside from an initial sputtering of fics right after the book came out. Though I've heard good things about Diagon Burning.

So it's probably that I'm just very sure about what I consider 'believable' or what's enough angst or anger and stuff... and it's pretty easy to seem like you're skipping out/cheating in H/D fics if it's not an angsty one-shot where there's some violence and no one really gets together. I think I'm exaggerating, but... in general, people white-wash or gentrify/justify characters, especially Harry, in order to make them likable. Ahahah well, there's a reason I left fandom and it's not because I'm able to go with the flow these days ^^;;

I shall have to look up this "Diagon burning" you speak of.

Pfff. You? Left Fandom? River in Egypt my friend. You're maybe on a slight hiatus until July... XD

...You know, I've thought that in fear quite recently, that it's true... that I'm just this way till the book comes out, and then BOOM, OMG HARRY LOVE OMG MUST WRITE EPIC OMGlaskj;lkdjglkjllkdgldj aaaaah (which is what happened post-OoTP). -.-
...It sort of makes me shiver ^^;;

oh and Draco tops a bunch of the time in Dahlia's Silver Chain series - that's the only one I could think of off the top of my head :)

Hah, of course I remembered the Silver Chain... how could I forget? :> But it's got major switching action, too ^^;; Just like all the major old WIPs that had any sex in them, iirc. I mean, Resolution has top!Draco and I have my suspicions about Tissue of Silver (which I haven't read) and I -know- Draco tops in A Thousand Beautiful Things (at least once? but he's such a top), but... uh, well, I was thinking of fics I liked, so ^^;
