    Cracky Plot Things I like:

1- AUs: Harry-in-Slytherin a bit predictable but still good! any what-if-type AU plot welcome! Bring Back Black = awesome.
    x Ex.: 'A Slytherin in Gryffindor Clothing' by Mahaliem for H/D & this one S/R Bring Back Black fic I once recced but totally forgot the name of... the author only wrote one other fic, gen, and I HAVE NO CLUE WHO THEY ARE :(( there must be a rec-list somewhere, right? ...right?
2- Enforced bonding: Have to shag or the world will END/any enforced shagging scenarios like love/lust potions [but with snark! resentment! shagging! yes.] & of course(!) scary-awful mind-bonds. [PS: pls to be stopping with love-potion where but-they-felt-like-that-all-along-so-really-it-didn't-work. Hmf. THAT KIND OF RUINS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE ANGST, DOESN'T IT! :O!]
    x - Ex.: 'Protective Bonds' by Sadie DragonFire & 'Irresistible Poison' by Rhysenn
3- Disaster survival/entrapment: Harry&Draco [or whoever] stuck together in a forest/closet/elevator/deserted island and they HAVE TO SURVIVE and figure out what to do or just not kill each other!! :D :D
    x - Ex.: 'Eclipse' by Mijan & 'The Elevator Story' by KatanesDreamer
4- Creature features/body-switch: but NOT VEELA!DRACO because I'm sick of that... esp. if Harry's the vampire/werewolf/eb1l monster-omg!!1 Or like, a girl [though only when played for laughs, 'cause smut = entirely girl!Draco]... or turned into Malfoy... that sort of thing :D
    x - Ex.: 'Harry Potter and the Inconvenient Condition' by Mirabella & 'And Now for Something Completely Different' by Silvia
5- Time-travel: although it has to be a time-period I'm interested in & it has to be a get-together fic, meaning no skipping in their own futures :O! But it's related to the being-stuck-somewhere thing, except in this case it's 'when' and not 'where'. Um. :>

....Anyway, I was just inspired to make this list 'cause I'm rereading some fics. And also I like lists. :-?

Is it just me or is fanfiction not, you know, one's intellectual property??...?? I mean, yeaaaaah, plagiarism = bad, fine [given you could prove that's what it was, which... in this case was inconclusive], but... jeez. There's only far you could go in the righteous indignation over it before you just have to realize you don't own it the way you do your stereo or original manuscript or whatever. It's just impolite to take bits of people's fanfics & use them, not illegal. Man.
    (And of course I'm not saying 'all fanfic is plagiarism' or whatever, it's just all so extremist and chest-thumpy and I'm actually all for using lots of personal effort to write stuff, but I still feel you need objective, claimable rights-- which would involve, y'know, due process-- to feel self-righteous to a certain degree rather than just etiquette guidelines, but. You just can't go saying 'you violated an UNWRITTEN FANDOM RULE! DIE!' because... uh, yeah, no one has to follow fandom rules. Because while what we do isn't illegal like plagiarism, it's still unofficial.)
    Why no logic [ie, no one even commented to say 'hey, wait up there pardner'] :( Why :( Brain go ouchie :( And of course, yeah, I realize that it's not -about- logic at all & is about people's knee-jerky indignation at any perceived social violations... but it's that precise sort of witch-hunt that makes me all GRR anyway. Even if the person -had- plagiarized, that's no excuse to immediately turn against them 100% if you're claiming to be reasonable nice people. Especially with comments like 'she's been raising eyebrows for awhile now' or something like that, probably not least because, *gasp!* she wrote OOC misspelled porn. I mean, yeah, hi, glass houses.

I mean, it's perfectly valid to be upset if you're plagiarized [even though I have been and I personally wasn't-- upset, that is] & you could get that person to take their fic down from a TOS'd/moderated site like FA, but it's not like... um... not like you've got rights, really. Ahem. As far as writing fanfiction goes... I mean... getting all self-righteous... I dunno, fandom, I dunno :/ I can [sort of] see getting outraged at plagiarizing from non-fanfic sources [even though that should be fine with noting them], but. Phrasing something 'a bit too closely' to what someone else wrote in ANOTHER PIECE OF H/D PORN? Uh. Yeah, no ground to stand on there, man. Yeah, hi. Perspective, have we met? :/

...Also, AHAHAHAH my reaction to RubyMoth & Devilfancy leaving is really 'well, yeah, I guess you should be glad you're moving on to Bigger and Better Things & I should be glad I won't waste time compulsively reading your OOC H/D porn'... ^^;;;;
