the! pretty! ack!
May. 24th, 2004 05:39 pmI think this entry should be titled, "how Reena loosened up and discovered the joy of fanon through extensive eye-candy". But that would be sad :>
There are few things that make me squeal as loudly as words & ideas combined with pictures. Like, pictures are great and words are great, but nothing beats words-and-pictures for me. Also, pictures inspire me to make words & vice-versa, so if I'm stuck for one, there's always the other to make me connect. But anyway, I just wanted to squee.
Alicey! Ahhhh, Alicey's new(ish) pics drive me wild. Mmm, character art. I love it when the characters aren't too pretty, so like, they challenge me to see them in the ways I used to. Like, I love it when people draw Harry&Draco so realistically that I can't see them together as easily, 'cause they're not "pretty" together anymore. Yeay. Alicey's like, the most inspiring canonish fanartist-- makes me want to put words to those pictures. Words, words, words!! It's a challenge, man.
Eeeeek, poor w00bie!Harry on his chimney, ack, he kills me, ackackack. Can I take him home and feed him chicken soup or is that disturbing? Also, I love it when Harry's angry at Draco in fanart, 'cause no one does that, man. And they should! I wanna see angry, rageful, glaring Harry 'cause that's the easiest emotion to realistically have him direct towards Draco, so seeing it makes me really -believe- in what I'm seeing. I mean, I love to see them snog their brains out (and clearly, I believe there should be more H/D porn being drawn), but hell, you could always have angry porn :D :D!! Angry glaring is still great though. Mmm.
It seems like I love every pic of OoTP-swing-set!Harry I've seen (okay, so this is the second), but... I just love it. That's like, such a definitive shot of Harry for me-- alone and thinking and not getting anywhere, all impatient and frustrated, about to snap. Mmmmmm, snapping... is good.
Also, this is great. Heeeee! I love the hand-gestures being used to define Harry and Draco as well as their typical expressions, and I love seeing them as silly wacked boys who'll probably never see eye-to-eye. Makes 'em human. Dude, how I love that. Aaaahhhh, Alicey!!!
Although, I mean. The pretty must also be worshipped. It doesn't matter if it's fanonish or canonish pretty, because the pretty is a law unto itself, as we all know.
Dream Butterfly is pretty, by the way. Eeee, Harry in the rain! Hee! And pretty!Draco with his insane little paper crane! And bloody hell, this is hot. The! Cuteness! Ack! ...And this is just kinda disturbing. Also, apparently Godric & Salazar are really hot. (Ack! I'm such a sucker! ...wah)
I usually love the Japanese fanart even though it's ridiculously "fanon", so to speak, because it's just so... I dunno... emotionally vivid. And also, Draco's usually a slutty spaz, and you know, I can dig that :D Can't very well knock a characterization I use all the time, can I :>
~~
And, it occurred to me that the widespread irritation with movie!Hermione & Emma seems similar to everyone's actual irritation with Hermione in the books, much of the time. At least Ron's. She -is- annoying :D ahahah. In a way, anyone who talks a lot or acts like they know better than other people is going to be pretty annoying, generally. Even if Emma's 'wrong' & Hermione's 'right', basically, I'm still amused :> Not to mention that I -like- how lame & not-very-pretty looking Emma is, 'cause glamorous!Hermione would be disturbing. Then again, everyone's lame in these movies. Everyone except maybe Alan Rickman :>
