let's pretend this is a public service announcement: queer as folk (us version) is.... eating my brain. yep. pretty much.

i don't know -what- i was doing before this, really (certainly, not watching qaf, that's for sure). ahahah. actual filmed action is a Good Thing. yes. i am trying to come up with something worthwhile to say, really, but i can't. it's all the vids' fault. enough vids to make my brain stream out of my ears, and yet i want more. the funny thing is, i can't even -begin- to want fanfic. i mean, after you see it live, basically the idea of shlepping through badfic looking for pr0n and angst sort of palls. oh, most definitely.

ow. ow. my brain. ow. (but what a good ow it is!!)
to clarify, brian & justin are eating-- have eaten-- my brain. guh. actual.... filmed.... slashfic. kind of. ok, so kind of not-so-good slashfic, but still. still! i remember reading that essay about how slashing supposedly straight boys was more satisfying somehow 'cause it's more transgressive than qaf, which starts out queer & stays queer. but, no. just, no. because, i have to say, THIS IS VERY SATISFYING. ahem.
    yes, i'm going now. ><;;

Very, very satisfying, I would say. ;)

Hi Reena, I caught your reply to durendal's QAF recs on her LJ and eagerly bopped over to check out your journal as I know next to nobody in RL (or otherwise) who adores B/J or QAF as I do.

I was super late coming into the show - I just discovered it earlier this year - so I was forced to spend hours on end, scouring kazaa for season 1 and 2 eps. And quite desperately so, I might add.

Anyway, I'd heard enough people within the HP fandom discuss the contradictory definitions/implications the term 'slash' offers up and debate its ultimate core on end - One such argument being that if two characters are canonically gay, a gay relationship within fanfic shouldn't be considered slash in its truest sense, and that that lack of transformation (inherently associated with the 'slashing' of characters) as you say inevitably yields less satisfaction or less of a punch at any rate. Well, as it turns out that couldn't be further from the truth for me...

B/J has swiftly surpassed H/D as my current obsession...and thus far has seemed to bring about a greater sense of fulfillment. Probably because the latter can only take form in fanfiction, never by its true creator's pen.

Comparatively speaking, the direction certain QAF onscreen storylines have taken may disappoint at times, but the actors' chemistry can pique - and hold - my interest indefinitely whereas fanfiction on the whole often disappoints as I'm increasingly finding and seeing as how it has no visual other than the one woven by the author's words, and/or the reader's imagination, the writing is everything. Thus, there's little room for error.

Okay, I've rambled on long enough already. But one more quick plea; I've completed a B/J vid I’m quite proud of and am searching for a means of posting it online so that others can view/dl it as well, but I'm not sure how one goes about doing that. I checked out hosting it on tripod, but the size of my vid was too large.

Any pointers as to how to get it up online would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Keely ;)

heeee. hi! *bounces*
i'm sure i'll get back into h/d since i write it even more compulsively than read it, in the end, but... hee. am currently in the throes of a major new obsession. heeee. 'cause like, they have qaf videos & dvds for season 2 in video rental places in the us, did you know that? hee.
and i've been watching season 1 for daaays now. *glows a bit* and i've only gotten into it earlier this week. >:D

i know what you mean about the chemistry, eheheh. i giggle like the 14-year-old hormonal basketcase i used to be, just thinking about it >:D<
and yah, it's kind of about the way the actors do it, more than what they do. hee. though i think the kissing and the rest of it is an important part. 'cause like, much as i like say, smallville's ust, it doesn't have the same kick. *glee*
i knew i really liked gay-themed movies, but i guess, not all of them have this intense chemistry-- or the gorgeous actors. hee. it helps really liking -both- actors -and- both characters (unlike say, with smallville where i only like lex or highlander where i only like methos). i adore both brian & justin, and like, neither of them are even my -type- of character. they're just so.... hee. adorable >:D though that's a bad word. *melts*

oh, and-- the only places i can think of if you want people to download it lots rather than just store it, would be here (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/princess-of-babylon/) and here (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/femalefansofthefolks)-- qaf yahoo groups, where you can either a) put them in the files section or b) ask people to host you >:D

i don't know a whole lot about this yet, seeing as how i only began a few days ago ;)
hee!
