and you know, i was just restraining myself from rambling on in my pseudo-scientific manner. 'cause i'm bipolar like that and while the article made me all gooey it also added to my biological database and i genuinely think it's of scientific interest, you know?

this really can change a -lot- of things that have been ingrained in biology & psychology & even sociology. one of the main things is that all that -i've- heard before is that some primates (i.e., some monkeys in brazil), have a rampant history of bisexuality and they pretty much fuck indescriminately. the common implication is the bisexuality/homosexuality in the animal kingdom is either because of a lack of a suitable opposite-sex mate (there are cases of frogs or something in south america going "both ways"-- if there's a lack of a suitable partner-- they actually grow a dick-- well, so to speak)-- well, that, or it's a function of their higher brain capacity-- ie, monkeys are more evolved, thus more prone to perversion.

(now is when you realize how much of a geek i am).
but anyway, this is -major-. i dunno, it's somewhat funny to me that everyone's like, "aww that's sweet" without realizing how scientifically and socially huge this sort of thing is. i mean, it's a well-known fact that homosexuality's biological roots have always been questioned and contested and it's a whole big deal, right? i mean, a lot of queers like to stick with the "it's choice, baby" idea-- ie, nurture (like ivyblossom), and think that it being biological is actually not a good thing. i mean, you can discriminate because it's biological (look, they're freaks!) or be accepting because it's biological (look, they can't help it, they're made that way). and vice versa.

so any evidence on the biological basis of queerness is very important, you know? it's not just sunshine and daisies, y'know?
it makes me happy not because it's cute (althought there's that). it makes me happy because this is one step closer to queer liberation, dammit.

you know, that's partly what I meant by the warm, fuzzy feeling. like -- oh, look, there's something, that is like, on our side. biologically/scientifically. (of course, try to tell my mother this and she will suddenly change gears and go: yeah, ok, but humans aren't animals so your argument must be moot.)

and no worries on the geekiness. I'm a total geek.
