this makes me happy like nothing else could.
"The world is, indeed, teeming with homosexual, bisexual and transgendered creatures of every stripe and feather," Bagemihl writes in the first page of his book. "From the Southeastern Blueberry Bee of the United States to more than 130 different bird species worldwide, the 'birds and the bees,' literally, are queer."
...

Date: 2003-04-29 03:05 pm (UTC)i swear, i want to rec peter beagle's "folk of the air" to everybody. -everybody-. have you seen "the last unicorn"-- the cartoon, i mean? well, he wrote this book about a musician living in a california college town in the 70s, who gets involved with a bunch of SCA people and there's a bunch of witchery and time-traveling and goddesses incarnate involved.... it's so good. so good. i do not know -anything- about literature if that's not a great book. it's just -that- good (so well-written, vivid, emotional, great plot, hilarious at points, poignant at points, amazing characterization, etcetc).
anyway, one of the gags is that the main character starts out working as a short-order cook in "thumper's", ahahahaha. yes, i'll remember that always. hee ;)
thumper's-- good, high-quality bunny fast-food. bunnies to go. etcetc >:D<
gahd, i love peter beagle <33333333333
