ahahahah. oh. gahd.
i found [livejournal.com profile] sane_potter and i think i'm -still- laughing. loudly. for the "sane" harry potter fan. oh, i think i may burst something.

ok, i'm sure some of us are saner than others, but really now. gotta stay away from those "less than sane" hp fans who like that insane "slash" fanfic, you know. they're a dangerous influence on all the "normal" wizard-fanciers among us. *coughs*

``This community was created for the sane Harry Potter fan. If not sane, at least not completely deranged. No silly talk of satan worship, or too perverted "fan fic" is welcome."

... i'm still trying to get over the "satan worship" bit. ahahah don't you think it's funny that they're accusing anyone of that, even jokingly, considering the accusations against jkr and hp-readers in general by the media and the christians and what have you? this is just hilarious.

and yes, i do think that removing [livejournal.com profile] fandom_wank was really the biggest wank of all.

in happier news, [livejournal.com profile] mawaridi posted a link to the yummiest lucius/james pic i've ever seen. mmmm. there's some more of that evil slash for y'all. ahahaha. the insanity is contagious, y'know.

EDIT - even funnier. i make fun of a community that i just found out recced me (here)! *laughs and laughs* they recced me! no one's recced me (without being on my friends list or somehow knowing me from lj) before. wah! ahahaha. on the other hand, i wouldn't even -know- if someone recced me and they weren't on my friends list. hmm. what i said still stands.

& `alone together' is all being disturbed by your own pleasure and things being so wrong, they're right. at least, there's just something about it. reminds me of [livejournal.com profile] isilya's draco/draco fic, heh.

O_o I had no idea that by 'sane' they meant 'non-slash fans'. I just joined to read the posts about canon, and I am all about the H/D.

well... is there really a -good- way to be insane? ^^ hee
well, there -is-, but i don't think those people think so ^^

Okay, maybe not all of that relates, and I probably mispelled the anglification of perestroika..

But looking over the 'sane' site in question it doesn't seem to be against slash really. Just trying to stay high brow and respectable. To by a paradigm of reason in the Harry Pitter fandom world in a seea of fangirlishness. Or something liek that.

Or mayeb I overstate. Btu liek on the 4th thing down it actually says that (approximately (but in bold) if people like slash' more power to them.. but she was feeling protective of her site because of Rowling's lawyers showing displeasure (and echoing Rowling's) of a large amount of NC-17 fanfic available and the usual stupid words of kiddies getting kinky ideas from something related...

I think its not so much an antislash thing as an anti-controversy thjing. Liek She wants a discussion board rather than commenting board. (didn't look through the sometimes many hundred comments on the site but maybe it works?

But I guess it seems liek it has the manner of a moderated newsgroup. While that can be abused, it can further real discussion versus random acts of flamers (or proabbly more the case here titteriness or as she says thing that are risque).

I guess all in all I can see its niche. It might take some of the fangirl magic excitement by placing "limits" on discussion. But perhaps this rationality or stodginess takes us into the inevitable maturing of the scene? (or one could also just say in any sufficiently large group of peopel anything can be thought up and probably some significantly large subgroup will follow it (especially when the group is _very_ large)( (and it allows me to put into effect slightly my metaphor (I thought based on Tolkien's of the Age of Man that he puts so heavy stock on making be the major symbol in his little trilogy (well you can either fight to help calmly move magic out of the known world and defeat the Dark Lord or.. well live in Hell on earth and probably continue the Magical rejuvenation cycle where the world rebuilds itself and Sauron ids set at bay for another couple thousand years after the magically mutated populace rebuild their civilization (again!))

But I got completely lost in my own wrapup. (and so the rug smothered him to death in a dusty stench of ages:)

PS And maybe Reenka could check/respond to my email, twas a good post right?

my point wasn't that it was anti-slash. it was that it was saying most of the fandom wasn't "sane". plus it's anti-fanfic because it's not sane enough, or whatever.
then there was the bit about satan worship.

i think the founder doesn't like fanfic, or slash, but she's willing to live and let live, but whatever.
the point is, "sane" hp fans is a funny concept, end of story.
From: [identity profile] unstasis.livejournal.com
Well probably because fanfic generally isn;t an intellegentsia(intellectual elite at least in my minds eye of the moment) type concept. And that's what I perceive this to be on its surface. I'm definitely not saying its right or better (as I doubt she or most other "open-minded" people would.

I guess its just seeing the joke from the other side.. its funny that it seems that often enough this approach can often deaden the amount of thoughtful discourse by being highbrow above the stuff that they don't believe in. It would be better to not go to far from cannon in thoughts than to perhaps possibly stray (or maybe become beyond the limited shell of cannon) go toward something truly beautiful and meaningful like I believe the best of the fanfic community achieves.

But I talk ktoo much. But I guess I found it funny too.. just in a diffenernt way. Did I get this across?

And the antislash thing I was responding more to the member of the forementioned group above who was writing in wonderment that the group was considered an antislash party. And I think they're more prudish towards all forms of sex (not cannon enough (yet) and too mature for a wide range of audiences (not pg/G rated, etc). In short they seem more provanilla than anti slash.

They might ne more than all that. They might be the answer to all life's questions since I only glanced at mediumly.

But by its form it appears that. And I guess it just seemed a bit untruth to say they were antislash.

Anyway. Back to the shadows I shoudl bound because I'm sure I said wayyyyyy more than anyone would want from me.
