Interesting read! It makes me want to compare 'slasher' to 'feminist,' less to say one's the other or vice versa than to examine the sorts of connotations each has acquired to some people; it also makes me want to examine two ways in particular of looking at a story, the first being what one feels while engrossed in a story, the second being one's more distanced opinion of what happens. It seems as if, sometimes, people confuse enjoying the slashiness that seems to flow naturally from a story with wanting to impose slashiness from outside. On a slightly different note, it was ashkitty, I think, who said something recently about how there aren't many people who like Harry and Ginny (to take a het example) and say that they shouldn't get involved because theirloveissopure.
