Well, most of my close friends I met because one of us fangirled the other over email, and then a conversation arose from that. I think I was the first person to then get on DJ, but then a whole bunch followed right after, because it was just an easier way for us to all chat together. And then we moved to LJ, because of DJ's crappy servers, a couple of months later.
Anyway, I don't email much, so for me LJ is my primary mode of communication. So most of the friends I've made since then have been via LJ. *thinks* All of them, in fact.
