``What happens to you--in you--when you read?"

this has always been a fascinating question for me. [livejournal.com profile] lucretius's old entry was really quite thought-provoking in that regard. definitely, being in a fandom especially, and seeing people's differing relationships with the same story, sort of suggests, in effect, demonstrates, that it's really the -interaction- between reader and story that makes a story "great", that makes it -work-.

``Hence, when we read, sometimes we are really reading ourselves: the words stay the same, but we are flowing like Heraclitus' proverbial river. "

...i was always curious about the inner worlds i share (or don't share) with other readers. for some reason, i associate it with the general collective unconscious (dreamscape), where all these things are born, in the first place. i mean, yes, we're reading ourselves inside/within/onto the story, but `ourselves' are tricky things to define. we are, conversely, reflective of all the stories we've read, and people we've met, and loved, and listened to.
um. *trails off* i wonder what it is... is it seasonal? i seem to be equally into writing and reading and meta-reading/writing all of a sudden. hmm. well, off to (finally!) read underwater light 6. *snerks* enough brain-drain for to-day, ne?

uh. yeah. is it me or is hp anime-style kinda...... freaky? um. it's prolly just me. but still.
