reenkaJust once. Just once I want to read a fic where the 'changes' the characters went through 'in the last few years' have been for the worse. (I don't mean for the EVIL, depressed or perverted-- or 'fakely' bad like hardcore & badass, mind you, just more annoying/fucked-up/unpleasant to be around.) Man, where's my copy of OoTP when I needs it, precioussss...
Ahhh, I can see it now: 'Ron came back from his long vacation-- and he was SUCH AN ASSHOLE'... ahhh.... *dreamy sigh* ...stupid desire to make favorite characters/pairings "sympathetic"... 'I'll tell you where you can shove your 'sympathetic' self, Malfoy!'... *mutters annoyingly to herself*
Note: Maya's fics are the exception that proves the rule (insofar as it applies to me, anyway. -.-) I suppose you could say that a lot more of my favorite writers make Draco 'the sympathetic one', but Maya's the only one who also makes Harry 'the adoring one' in, uh, get-together fics. See, see, okay, here's the secret: YOU ACTUALLY MAKE DRACO ADORABLE. ^^;;; Because noooo, it doesn't work when he's just a sensible old sad clown, y'know? Or a mysteriously alluring and aloof (oh, the ALOOFNESS!) sex god. That is not adorable. That. That is just OOC. :P ...Why do people take a rivals/hatesex/hate-love pairing and make the characters either apathetic or admiring of the other person, I shall never, ever (want to) understand. -.- But I suspect it has something to do with sekritly wanting to write Harry/Ron except with a hotter & angstier Ron. :P I just wish I could believe the people who enjoyed the fics -knew- the whole set up was antithetical to the concept of H/D... somehow I think they just think it's 'romantic'... as if H/D isn't already romantic enough WITHOUT TURNING IT INTO A HARLEQUIN GOD FUCKING BLOODY DAMN IT. Meh. Will I never learn just not to read/look at these things?? But there is next to no alternative! Agh. Me go breakfast now.

'BTW, THIS FIC IS AN OVER-SAPPY OVER-SCHMOOPY PIECE OF MOSTLY-OOC FLUFF, EVEN THOUGH IT TRIES TO BE SERIOUS AND ANGSTY, BUT I LIKED IT BECAUSE I LIKE WIBBLY LONGING HARRY & ALOOF YET VULNERABLE DRACO, THAT'S ALL, THANK YOU'. That's what I want to see. ^^; Then I can be 'Ah, but sweetly-smitten!Harry needs to die nearly as much as aloof!Draco, thusly I shall be sensible and NOT LOOK'. :/ ...And how sad is it I still get this way over H/D fics I don't like? REALLY SAD, yes. :|
