The thing is, I feel like... you can tell smaller-scope stories a lot easier with MWPP, just about friends and feuds and loyalties and a bunch of blokes in a boarding school being assholes and growing up and doing everything for the first time and the last time. There's this aura of school-time stories with the MWPP I can never quite achieve in Triofic because something Big is always going on and Harry doesn't have the air of carefree mischief and joie de vivre, and post-Hogwarts fics are so often over-the-top rather than gritty yet poignant because the themes of trust/betrayal/paranoia with the Marauders is so much... more subtle? Harry can never, like, subtly doubt Ron, like in DH it was a huge explosion because that's how Harry is. I don't know. It's like a whole huge rift of genres, and I -wish- I could write Marauder-era because I feel like you can tell a lot more everyday and emotionally subtle relationship stories with it. But then I'm an over-the-top angst whore as well, plus I just feel Harry and Ron and Draco and Ginny more intensely. It's not at all nostalgic/sepia-colored and a lot more ragged and visceral, so I'm torn. D:
