I know what you mean...let's face it, the net can be a scary thing. And a lot of writers probably go into it expecting it to be a great experience with their fans and it's not going to be. Because on the one hand it's annoying if everyone is treating the person as if they're special as a person, but otoh it's annoying if they don't see any boundry between themselves and the author. A professional blog is probably it's own thing, I guess, where it's just another form of writing. But still it's very weird to have an internet persona to go along with the writer persona, which might be very different.
