You should know I love being babbled to as much as I love babbling >:D Especially about fanon/canon!Draco, ahahah. It's probably somewhat of a mental tick to talk about that now ><;;
But now I actually see the Harry/Zacharias now... sort of like the male version of the Luna Effect, right-- someone who comes at things at a different enough and/or calm enough angle to snap Harry out of it... I was just saying I'm not sure what's in it for Zach :> (Heheh, I love calling hi Z, though.) I can definitely see gaygaygay!Harry, though he's rather asexual at this point, and I can see him being bi moreso than Draco, but I also think Draco would get along with more girls better. Hmm.
I love both fanon & canon too, though I'm not sure how I feel about writers -choosing- and declaring they're doing fanon, especially when they set a fic in 6th year and basically write things which make no sense. Perhaps I have a too specialized idea of 'sense', but say, the idea of Draco just not being that obsessed/angry at Potter makes an H/D story unpalatable to me. I don't even understand why people do go WTF??! and read on, on an emotional level, though it's not like I need Draco to be Harry's bitch all the time, not at all. But a Draco who's like 'oh, I guess my dad's wrong & I'll become a traitor to his cause now, lalala and oh, what about Potter? ah, I don't care so much'.... I mean... there are limits I wish people didn't cross even in the name of fanon ('cause they make no rational sense, and it's worse when they're rationalized, too). But now -I- am rambling about -my- pet-peeves :> But I can & do like lots of well-done fanon!Dracos, of course (and think there's much more than one version!)
Heheh I -love- the idea that Draco's not posh & really rebels against his father's ideas of how he should kiss up and shmooze, etc (though I dunno, he seems to do that with Snape & Umbridge). I think it's very true that their personalities are ultimately different enough so that Draco -can't- be the person his father wants, and that's led him to sort of improvising a lot (though spouting the bullshit & attitude anyway). I think he might do what his father wants if he could (like, I'm sure he'd beat Granger if he could, etc, too).
And oh, how I love the sniffing-his-dirty-laundry!Draco. Ahahaha, that's priceless :D Although I dunno if he -consciously- is silly & playful as a rebellion ('cause like, seems like more of an act than I'd credit him with), but he probably does -revel- in being 'wicked' or even embarrassing by his father's standards a lot of times. I mean, he's still pretentious in his own way (like in the robe-shop scene), but he just can't help it; he's just so deluded he really believes the shtick, I think. But, omg, workaholic!Lucius is just so precious, and imagining him as equivalent to Percy makes me giggly to the extreme :D
I do adore wildly casual!Draco :D I think this latest manifestation of fanon, where he's all... uptight, basically, really annoys me because... well, I don't even -like- people like that, haha. Not that Draco's not uptight, but I can't really see him successfully cultivating it... I dunno if I'm giving him too much credit or too little, but it's always that way with me & Draco :>
