Dec. 11th, 2003 07:01 pmThis is really freaking me out. Ack!! The stage play! For His Dark Materials!! ACK!! LYRA AND WILL AT THE TREE :(( I think if by some trick of weirdness someone made an H/D play I would so bawl my eyes out. And I never do that. OMG WILL AND LYRA :(( I AM STILL UPSET ABOUT THAT ENDING :(((( ...(*is hormonal right now, thankyouverymuch*)
Also, gacked from

"I know very little about some of the people on my friends' list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your fic, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.
But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes spinach."
I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal."
Mind you, I don't have a highly interactive flist, so I'm not holding my breath. That said, I love to be surprised~:))

Date: 2003-12-11 07:35 pm (UTC)Besides dead fish, I have issues with seafood. Especially crawfish, lobster, shrimp, or crabs. I can't even touch them. They're just like really big bugs to me (and technically I'm pretty sure they're biologically related to insects.)

Date: 2003-12-11 08:45 pm (UTC)But for some reason, I cannot bring myself to read subtexty and surreal angst where I have to infer and imagine. This is the stuff that everyone describes as heart wrenching and beautiful. Most of the time I can't undestand it. It sounds so poetic and lovely, but I find myself skimming through them, wondering what exactly makes people hold their breath.

Date: 2003-12-11 08:50 pm (UTC)Though I think most definitely, I've been guilty of this at times. I think it's a part of that showing-vs-telling thing, too. You're not showing, really, if you're making the reader do the work. It's so nice to be so caught up in the story you can't help but be carried away into wherever it wants to take you. Mmmmmmm, I'm inspiring myself to read the last chapter of `Drawing Down the Moon' now :>

Date: 2003-12-11 09:18 pm (UTC)Easy read ficcing is what I need. Sometimes I feel slightly uncultured. Especially when I read glowing recs but the fic just wooshes past my head I just don't understand.
I used to write a lot of that angst that sounded lovely but didn't make sense when i reread it. For some reason now I just write fic that makes too much sense and isn't quite serious anymore. Or I just don't write at all.
