What I said was that regarding -Snape- specifically, I didn't need him to transform, and that theoretically, he could remain 'just as he is' and if he'd gotten and/or accepted love-- like Remus was able to, say, or like Harry was-- I can't help feeling his fate would've been different. And yes, this is a problem, but not a problem with Snape's character arc specifically, is my point. As always, I'm talking about characters and not philosophical generalities of theme in the way you mean it.
